SPARKS FLY. A SAFECRACKER, in welder’s mask, trains a
blowtorch on the office safe. Behind him, Jack’s HOODS
are at work on the filing cabinets. Jack stands watch-
ing, squinting through the fumes. He holds a silk
handkerchief over his nose and mouth.
The SAFECRACKER kills his blowtorch and opens the metal
door of the safe, giving Jack a good look inside:
SAFECRACKER
Empty.
JACK shakes his head: they’ve been set up. A SIREN
blares outside.
JACK
We’ve been ratted out here, boys.
I really wonder about China-made tech now too …

Tango CTO: “Alibaba investment gave us wings”

In May 2014, Alibaba led messaging app Tango’s  $280M financing round , during a period when the mobile messaging space saw giant movements with acquisitions from Facebook ( Whatsapp ) and Rakuten ( Viber ) also hitting the headlines. It’s apparent that Alibaba didn’t want to miss out. It has been trying hard to push its own  Laiwang  app, but has had little success. Chairman and founder Jack Ma has even deserted Tencent’s Wechat  to get people to notice his own messaging app, but it hasn’t helped much. That’s good for Tango, because had Laiwang been a success in China, the Tango deal might not have happened. Having explored Tango recently, I understand better why the deal makes sense for  Alibaba . SwiftKey puts its themes packs on sale (50% off) for Black Friday

Popular keyboard replacement app SwiftKey is gearing up for the shopping season with a sweet deal on its themes packs. The 5-theme packs are now available for $1.49 (down from $2.99), while the 10-theme Premier pack is available for $2.49. Google services not working right for many folks

Various Google services have been reportedly acting up for a number of folks for at least the last hour or so, and longer for others. So if you are having issues with Google right now, you aren’t alone. While Google’s  status site  only shows Gmail as experiencing issues, many are finding that the majority of Google’s services are either not working or are extremely slow, including Search, Drive, Maps and even Youtube. Considering this issue has been going on for at least part of the afternoon, it’s pretty likely this will be resolved quickly. It is also worth noting that not everyone is running into issues, so the service outages seem to be hit and miss, depending on the region and so forth.
